How can I stop my dog from wanting to chase and kill birds? She's killed 2 so far, and started with a neighbour's chicken, then a wild bird. She's a hunter and retriever, but although bringing things back, (balls, sticks) will chew them up before handing them over.
She killed the first bird about 6 months ago, and the second only weeks ago.
I keep her with me, but if she sees a bird, there is no controlling her, even with a checking collar or harness. (Large dog, small person)
She's 20 months old, and has a 3 year puppy-hood.
