Useful Tips for Posting in Forums

Following are some useful tips that you should consider before posting on these forums, so that you can make use of these forums in accurate and appropriate manner.

Few things will alienate you more than asking a question that was just answered, so before entering a discussion, read as much of the discussion as possible. If you do need to ask a question, please find out if it has been asked and answered at some other time by using the "Search" feature.

  • A lot of the members of this forum are here because they like being helpful and because they are interested in all that it entails. None of these helpful members are obliged to answer any questions. So, the best way to approach members is with respect for them and the time they devote to answering your question or solving your problem.
  • A thank-you or follow-up message for any help given is usually all the wonderful helpful members need to feel that they are appreciated, so please don't be skimpy with the praise when someone has helped you.
  • Please make sure that when you are posting a comment or question that you are in the correct forum. Members entering specific forums expect to see topics of discussion pertinent to that forum and should not have to wade through "off topic" posts. If your conversation takes off in another direction, please switch over to another forum to have your discussion.
  • When composing the subject of your post, please make it as descriptive, yet short, as possible. Avoid subject headings like "NEED HELP!", “My 200th Post” and under no circumstances use ALL CAPS. Exclamation marks are rarely needed in subject headings. A good subject heading will make it more likely that members will read your post.
  • Please note that advertisements (veiled or blatant), chain letters, pyramid schemes, solicitations, job offers, job requests, and links to such sites are disallowed and will be deleted.
  • It is allowed to debate, but it is not allowed to make flaming or hurtfull personal comments. There will be no discrimination of any sort towards other members, whether this be race, religion, socio-economic status, etc. Do not bully or harass other members. If this behaviour does occur, please notify the moderator of that board immediately. If you are found guilty of this behaviour, you will receive a warning. If you repeat this behaviour, you will be banned.
  • No bloody spamming! Nobody cares if you're bored, restless, have cramps or whatnot.
  • Smiley Overload
Don't do it. Excess smilies will be deleted. Nobody needs to see 10 odd smilies in a row - especially if they cause the page to scroll horizontally.
There is method to this madness. Apart from being really irritating, sometimes excess smilies can freeze a thread, a board, or in exceptional circumstances, an entire forum.

Lets make it a useful place to share and discuss information.

We are always available for help in case you need it.

Enjoy your stay here!
